PRACTICALITIES

As you are coming to an island in the middle of nowhere, there are some practicalities to get familiar with.

How to get there

Prackstenen is located on the Southern tip of Finland, within Archipelago National Park. The nearest airport is Helsinki-Vantaa. It takes 2.5 hours by car from the airport/Helsinki to Kasnäs harbor and the boat ride to the island takes an additional 20 minutes. We can also arrange other forms of transport such as a helicopter, upon request.

What to take with you

The weather in the archipelago changes quickly and can be very windy at times, making it sometimes chilly even in the summer. The rocky and uneven terrain can be slippery and so can the boat decks. We recommend to bring at least the following:

  • Proper shoes with good grip (Water proof shoes might also get handy)
  • Enough warm clothes and layers of underwear
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Sunglasses and/or a hat

Weather

The visiting season in the archipelago is basically six months but we can  organise trips at other times if you’re seeking a more extreme experience.

We are designers Aleksi Hautamäki & Milla Selkimäki. We purchased and built Project Ö for our escape, playground and a place of solitude. Now we want to share the experience with similarly minded people and promote the Archipelago and its uniqueness by inviting people to stay in the heart of it.
