PRACTICALITIES

As you are coming to an island in the middle of nowhere, there are some practicalities to get familiar with.

How to get there?

Gåsskären is situated in the Southern tip of Finland, within Archipelago National Park. The nearest International airport is Helsinki. The primary way to get from the airport/Helsinki to the island is by car. A drive to Kasnäs takes 2,5h from where the boat ride to the island takes 30mins. We can also arrange other forms of transport such as a helicopter if required.

What to take with you?

The weather in the archipelago changes quickly and can be very windy at times, making it sometimes chilly even in summertime. The terrain is rocky and uneven and can be slippery. The he same goes with the boat decks. For these reasons we recommend at least the following:

  • Proper shoes with good grip (Water proof shoes might also get handy)
  • Enough warm clothes and layers of underwear
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Sunglasses and/or a hat

Weather

The season in the archipelago is basically 6 months but if you are looking for a more extreme experience, we can also organise trips outside those months.

Meet your host

We are designers Aleksi Hautamäki & Milla Selkimäki. We purchased and built Project Ö for our escape, playground and a place of solitude. Now we want to share the experience with similarly minded people and promote the Archipelago and its uniqueness by inviting people to stay in the heart of it.
