There are few basic types found for house profiles: Shed (slanted roof), flat, gable, hip and mansard.
Any of these shapes can be taken to design a modern cabin concept, and the decision on the direction can be tricky. In my case it was easy.
In general, there is usually one typical house type for a certain region. In the archipelago it’s thegabled roof house. It is used all over the area, in houses and sheds, old and new.
Visually gabled roof looks balanced of course, it’s the archetype of a house and it also seems to work in these conditions.
There are functional, historic and aesthetic motives for it. I cannot find a reason why anything else than a cabled roof should be built over here.
